Our mission is to increase the repute and acknowledgement of the Community trade marks system in Hungary. We have special expertise in this field, as the Managing Partner of the Law Firm, Dr. Kocsis M. Tamás was a trade mark examiner between 2007 and 2012 at the Office for the Harmonisation of the Internal Market in Alicante, the European Agency responsible for the registration of Community trade marks. He has substantial competency in opposition cases especially those involving trade marks with reputation and proof of use issues.
The Partners of the Law Firm have considerable expertise in other areas of Intellectual Property as well. We represent various clients in front of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office in national trade mark and design cases and we are involved in various advertising and copyright matters. Recently, we have been developing a strong practice in IP-infringement as well.
The Law Firm advises clients in general corporate, finance and labour law matters too. One of our future goals is to provide startups with legal advice especially when IP-related problems accompanied by corporate and finance issues come into question.
Practicing in Budapest is a great advantage and challenge. The city is the seat of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office and the Metropolitan Court, which is not only the appointed Hungarian Community Trade Mark Court but also the first instance court in almost all jurisdictional matters related to IP in Hungary. Additionally, the centre of the evolving Hungarian startup scene is also Budapest.
