Sunita Thereja-Kapoor received her Masters Degree in Law (LL.M.) from New York University, School of Law, New York, NY. She previously obtained a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) and also Masters Degree in Law (LL.M.) from Department of Law, Panjab University, Chandigarh, India.

Ms. Thereja-Kapoor has been admitted to practice as an attorney in New York and Panjab & Haryana Courts, Chandigarh, India. Before starting the Law Firm, Ms. Thereja-Kapoor gained extensive experience in the areas of Immigration and Business Operations while working for reputed Immigration Law Firms and Legal Department of Corporations. Apart from this, she practiced as an advocate in Panjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, India under Sr. Advocate, Mr. S. C. Sibal.

Sunita Thereja-Kapoor’s interest in immigration law stems from her own experience as an immigrant from India. Ms. Thereja-Kapoor is fluent in Hindi and Punjabi. Ms.Thereja-Kapoor is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and New York State Bar Association.

Ms. Thereja-Kapoor offers her expertise to individuals and company clients in Information Technology, Oil & Gas, Consulting, Placement and Education Industry. Ms. Thereja-Kapoor is cognizant of peculiar needs and challenges faced by the employers and employees of such industries.

Pro Bono Work

Attorney Sunita Kapoor believes in Community Work and helping the needy. In that direction, Ms. Kapoor handles cases for a very low fee or even free of cost for some selective indigent clients. Ms. Kapoor accepts Pro Bono work from Catholic Charities and University of Houston. Additionally, Ms. Kapoor volunteered to file a pro bono R-1 Petition for a local Houston Gurdwara ( Sikh Religion Temple) in July 2009. Recently, Ms. Kapoor volunteered to give a presentation “Become a US Citizen” to discuss Rights and Responsibilities of becoming a US Citizen & Question and Answer Session on the Citizenship Application Process” in two public libraries hosted by Houston Public Library System in November 2009.
